Located in Milwaukee, I'm a dedicated linguist with a BA in French and Russian and an MA in Translation Studies.
As the world moves more and more towards globalization and open communication, it's more and more in need of good, reliable translators to help bridge the gaps between countries and cultures. My goal is to ensure three things:
It's a common misconception that being a good translator only requires knowing more than one language, but in reality there's so much more to the process than what you see on the surface level. Having an advanced degree in translation (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) helps me to ensure that your projects are handled with all of linguistic and business expertise that they deserve.
It's not always easy to put your work in someone else's hands.
My translation process has three phases: the translation phase, where the bulk of the work gets done; the bilingual editing phase, where I dedicate extensive time to ensuring complete accuracy to the original text; and the monolingual editing phase, where I give special attention to perfecting native-level fluency and meeting the target audience's expectations in the translated document.
I use the CAT (computer-assisted translation) tool Wordfast Pro, a major cross-platform competitor to the leading CAT tools. Wordfast does not translate for me, but rather provides a translation memory and an organized workspace. This ensures top-notch consistency and efficiency without compromising the intelligent problem-solving and sensitivity to context that you can only get from a human translator.
